Java Engineer

We are currently seeking a professionally minded and career orientated individual to assist in the continued success of the business. This is a responsible and demanding role and the successful applicant will become totally involved in the day to day requirements of their position.

Objective: 

To contribute to business growth through the development of quality software and provide best consultancy service to clients in financial industry.

Develop software for the financial industry using Java Technologies, primarily to focus on middleware development and system integration/optimization using industry recommended standards.

Provide support for existing systems and troubleshoot any problems that arise. Analyze requirement for new modules/features, determine the appropriate technology to meet the need, participate in solution design, and provide accurate implementation time estimates. Develop middleware for system integration and work with senior consultant to integrate different systems and optimize the client's whole IT structure.

Key Responsibilities

·  Gather requirements from clients and create specifications for code development.

·  Also expected to analyze requirement for new modules/features, determine the appropriate technology and software design to meet the need and to provide accurate implementation time estimates.

·  Designing and developing applications, primarily to facilitate entry, display, analysis and reporting of customer or hosted data, and to provide support for existing systems and troubleshoot any problems that arise.

·  Work with senior system engineer to evaluate the client's IT structure and work out how to integrate different systems of clients to optimize their IT platform.

·  Ability to review, evaluate, design, implement and maintain company databases and/or applications

·  Adhere to company coding and development standards

·  Produce documentation for the development work undertaken.

Qualifications and Experience

·  Computer related degree (Min 2:1)

·  At least six months commercial Java development experience in a medium to large scale enterprise application development environment.

·  Software development background within the financial industry would be considered advantageous.

Besides, the ideal candidate will also have at least some of the following:-

·  Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills

·  Good written and verbal communication skills

·  Team player

·  Experience with Sybase or Oracle

·  Experience with Java web server e.g. JBoss, Tomcat

·  Experience with J2EE platform

·  Experience with JavaScript and Ajax

·  Experience with Eclipse/IDEA/IBM Websphere

Essential Skills

·  EJB, Servlet/JSP, HTML/DHTML/CSS/Javascript, XML/XSD, SQl Server 2000/2005, Sybase, Unix/Linux

Desired Skills

·  Sun Certified Professional, Murex experience
